Sivakarthikeyan’s Pongal release, Rajini Murugan movie declared as first blockbuster movie of the year 2016 in tamil. The film released on 16th January in more than 800+ screens worldwide.
The movie opened with huge collection for first weekend across the state, also released with huge number of screens in overseas. Rajini Murugan grossed around Rs. 8 crores on its opening day.
“In the opening weekend, the film raked in over Rs.20 crore worldwide. It’s the biggest opening for the Sivakarthikeyan in his career so far. Despite the onslaught of the three other big releases, ‘Rajini Murugan’ emerged successful,” trade analyst Trinath told IANS.
As per the reports, Rajini Murugan ahead of other pongal releases Vishal’s Kathakali, Sasikumar’s Tharai Thappattai and Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Gethu at box office. The film running successfully in all centers with good response even after entering second week.
After back to back super hit films, Sivakarthikeyan registered another film on his hit count. The Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam crew Siva-Soori-Ponram entertained all center audience with another fun fledged film in tamil.
“The film has registered fantastic opening everywhere, especially in B and C centres. It has worked extremely well with the masses and family audiences,” Trinath said.
Reportedly, Sivakarthikeyan’s Rajini Murugan declared as First Blockbuster of Tamil industry in 2016. However, The final verdict of the film yet to decide after box office collection of second weekend.
