Steve Smith ruled out of IPL with wrist injury: One more player from Rising Pune Supergiants ruled out of IPL due to injury. RPSG’s one of the most consistent batsman Steve Smith ruled out of the IPL due to wrist injury. He is not the first player from their side to have been injured. The injury started with Kevin Pietersen getting on the field and ruled out due to calf injury. A couple of days later, Faf du Plessis was ruled out due to finger injury. And then next player was Mitchell Marsh, he had fly back to Australia last week.

But, Steve Smith’s absent will surely affect their middle order. He is the most consistent batsman for Rising Pune Supergiants in this IPL. He smashed a brilliant century against Gujarat Lions and plundered 45 from 23 balls against the Mumbai Indians.

“Steve has been struggling with pain in his right wrist for the last week during his stint in the IPL,” Australia’s sports science and sports medicine manager Alex Kountouris said. “We have been working with his IPL franchise Pune to monitor this, and unfortunately it has not resolved. As such, he will return home from India for further assessment and treatment ahead of the tour of the West Indies.”

“From the information we have so far, this doesn’t appear to be a serious injury but we are keen to give him the time to recover and rehabilitate before heading to the West Indies at the end of May.”

Rising Pune Supergiants have lost 6 games out of their 8 matches. They named Usman Khawaja and George Bailey as a replacement for Kevin Pietersen and Faf du Plessis respectively. The replacement for Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith are yet to be named.
